The Tennessee Poets Day is an Annual “All Day POETRY” Celebration of National Poetry Month by Poets From the Neighborhood (PFTN) . It was established in 2017 and continues to be one of PFTN's major community outreach volunteer efforts. It is free and open to the public with poetry lovers of all ages welcome. Join PFTN on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Public Library meeting room. Bring your own brown-bag lunch and the Poetry enthusiasts in your family, aspiring poets among friends & students, and enjoy a whole Day of Excellent Poetry.
Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson will be our Honorary Guest speaker at the Opening Ceremony & Awards Presentation.
Events include a lecture on Poetry & Country Music by TN POET Laureate Margaret B. Vaughn, a Sonnet Workshop by renowned Tennessee Poet Jeff Hardin, and book signings by Tennessee Poets David M. Harris, Jeff Hardin, Henry L. Jones, Dana Malone, Veeraja R, Maggie, B. Vaughn, Amie Whittemore and others.
PFTN’s 2023 National Poetry Month Celebration featured hybrid presentations via ZOOM with virtual open-mic recordings open to all poets on March 30 and April 6 and 20.
Attendee can sign up at the door to read a poem of their own at one of two open mic sessions on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. and for Door Prizes with the winners to be announced at the end of the day!
GUIDELINES: All poetry for reading on TN POETS Open Mics, virtual or in-person programs, and poetry submissions to the PFTN program on WC-TV, TN:
Need to be - 1) your original work, 2) family friendly, and 3) of clean language with no profanity.
Refreshments will be provided.

Poets From The Neighborhood (PFTN) was established by Dr. S. R. Lee in Winter of 2013, continues to bring the voices and works of local TN POETs to the community at large via the PFTN Program weekly on WC-TV, TN. The TN POETs virtual events, featuring Poetry & Open- Mic, were initiated and hosted by JoyPoet VeerajaR via Zoom during the pandemic to ensure social distancing as part of PFTN’s Community Outreach efforts, and continue to thrive as a means of collaboration with Poets nationwide and poetry enthusiasts around the world. The 7th Annual Tennessee Poets Day -2023 events, virtual and in-person / on-site, are bound to inspire Poets of all ages and stages. All events are recorded by our collaborators, WC-TV, TN, to be aired & streamed online via YouTube at a later time.
