The IRS created the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) free tax prep program to provide free tax preparation for low-income and at-risk taxpayers with the help of community partners and volunteers. VITA offers free tax preparation to households that made less than $84,000 in 2025. Each year, United Way volunteers help thousands of individuals and families prepare their taxes. VITA volunteers are at the Main Library in Franklin on: - Monday, 1-6 p.m.
- Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
from February 2 – April 13, 2026, excluding February 14, February 16, and March 23 when the library is closed for a holiday. The Main Library is one of several VITA sites. Visit the VITA website for others. For more information on how to prepare for an appointment, visit the VITA home page. |
